US universities asked to do more for women of colour in tech

National academies say efforts needed to increase student and staff numbers in technology-focused academic departments

Universities and government science funders should do more to boost the disproportionately small number of women of colour in the US technology sector, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine have said.

In a report published on 9 December, the academies called for higher education institutions, professional societies and tech companies to form a coalition to support the recruitment and retention of women of colour in tech.
