Advice sought on public access to digital data and publications

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has begun soliciting public input on long-term preservation of the results of federally-funded research, including digital data and peer-reviewed scholarly publications.

The move came in response to language included in the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act, signed by President Obama earlier this year, which directs OSTP to coordinate with government agencies to develop policies that assure widespread public access to, and lasting stewardship of, the results of federally funded unclassified research.
