Agencies urged to lower their budget requests

The director of the Office of Management and Budget has called for federal agencies to reduce their budget requests by 5 per cent for fiscal year 2013.

In a directive published on 17 August, Jacob Lew said the requests should be “at least 5 percent below your 2011 enacted discretionary appropriation”.
