Jeb Bush voices support for NIH

Jeb Bush, the early leader in the campaign to be the 2016 Republican presidential candidate, has said at a campaign event that he wants more federal funding for the NIH and other biomedical research.

Bush, who was governor of Florida until 2007, told an audience in Iowa that the United States should be focusing on long-term spending on R&D, it was reported the Huffington Post.

As governor, Jeb Bush spent about $750 million to encourage research institutions such as Scripps and private biomedical companies to open branches in Florida or move to the state.
