Biden gives details of cancer ‘moonshot’

Vice-president Joe Biden has described more modest goals for his cancer research initiative and also talked about the importance of infrastructure to such research.

President Obama revealed the so-called moonshot in his State of the Union address in January, saying: “Let’s make America the country that cures cancer once and for all”.

But in a discussion with University of Pennsylvania cancer researchers and National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins, Biden said he was being realistic about what the program could achieve.
