US president acts to restore scientific integrity, but faces questions over removal of climate expert

US president Joe Biden has nominated researchers for top science positions in his administration, acting on his agenda to restore scientific integrity to government, although questions have been raised over the removal of a top expert from a climate leadership role.

A slate of names for government positions was announced by the White House on 22 April, including science roles at the Department of Energy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Department of State and the Department of Transportation.
