Biden: US must ‘dominate’ technology development

President’s Congress speech follows proposal for two years of free community college for all Americans

In his first speech to Congress as US president, Joe Biden doubled down on his intention to see off global competitors in the race to develop new technologies.

“We have to develop and dominate the products and technologies of the future: advanced batteries, biotechnology, computer chips, clean energy,” Biden said in an address on 28 April.
