Brazil and Ukraine sign research agreements

The governments of Brazil and Ukraine signed a military research deal on 25 October.

“The intergovernmental agreement on military and technical cooperation will facilitate the establishment of bilateral mutually beneficial long-term cooperation in the military and technical sphere,” the Ukrainian government said in a statement. “The document, in particular, concerns the development of scientific research and new technologies.”

The document was signed in Brazil during at meeting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.

The two sides also signed research agreements in healthcare and medical sciences, agriculture and biofuels.

“The memorandum of understanding between the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the Embrapa Corporation reflects the interest of these institutions in the unification of scientific potential concerning the exchange of technology for the production of biofuels, the development of rapid methods to control the quality of sugar-containing raw materials, selection in plant growing and cattle breeding, the introduction of new technological schemes and the means of plant protection, joint participation in the implementation of international and regional projects, the organization of bilateral events and the training of experts,” said a Ukraine government statement.
