Hitachi joins Saskatchewan in nuclear tech and medicine

Japanese technology company Hitachi Ltd. and the Canadian province of Saskatchewan have signed a five-year deal to develop technologies on a small nuclear reactor, uranium recovery from fuel rods and nuclear medicine, it was announced on 25 August.

Both parties will invest CAD$10 million (US$10.25m) in the project, which will involve research into nuclear medicine to fight cancer.
