Court hears evidence in India’s GM trial

An Indian Supreme Court case on a petition to halt field trials of genetically modified crops in India is continuing to divide scientists and government officials. On 9 November the court heard arguments from industry, government and anti-GM groups on the petition, which was filed by anti-GM groups in May. Government representatives said that banning GM crops would be damaging to India.
