Japan’s election indicates return to nuclear power

The Liberal Democratic Party's election victory is seen as a boost for nuclear energy in Japan, the Financial Times reports.

Only two of the country’s 50 reactors have been restarted following shutdowns after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster. In September the outgoing government, led by the Democratic Party of Japan, announced its aim of phasing out nuclear power by the end of 2030.
