Budget cuts force layoffs at Canadian agency’s Senegal office

Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) will close its office in West Africa and dismantle a programme on innovation because of a 10 per cent cut in its budget.

The IDRC released a statement on 2 April announcing Canada’s austerity measures have forced it to close its office in Senegal before the end of 2012.
