Cut donor dependency to boost African agricultural R&D, says report

International aid donors should reduce Africa’s dependency on external funding for agricultural research and instead grow research capacities from within, says a report by two African science initiatives.

The report, Agricultural R&D: Investing in Africa’s Future, urges African governments to increase salaries for researchers and bolster science funding to ensure national ownership of agricultural research programmes.
