UNESCO puts weight behind new vision for small island communities

The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural organization is backing a new vision for small developing island states that face challenging futures.

UNESCO says it is ensuring effective implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action (BPoA) for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and is actively contributing to its 20-year review (BPoA+20) which is planned for 2014.
