China to host urban health programme

The International Council for Science has chosen the Institute of Urban Environment in Xiamen, southern China, to host its research programme on urban health and wellbeing.

The Urban Health programme is a 10-year interdisciplinary research initiative aimed at generating “policy-relevant knowledge that will improve health status, reduce health inequalities and enhance the wellbeing of urban dwellers”, according to the council.

Funding for five years has been secured from the institute, the Xiamen municipal government, the China Association for Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
