Australia confirms SKA spending

The Square Kilometer Array Organisation has welcomed news that the Australian government is likely to spend $294 million on the SKA telescope in the next decade.

The funds—which are listed under the country’s National Innovation and Science Agenda, revealed on Monday—serve as a provisional estimate of Australian spending on the SKA.

The Australian branch of the SKA described the spend as a “very positive signal” of the government’s support for the project, as the amount would be enough to meet Australia’s commitments to the first phase of the project.
