Policy research funding sources revealed

Think tanks are becoming increasingly transparent about where their funding to conduct research on policy comes from, an assessment by a pro-transparency group has found.

The report from Transparify in the United States looks at 169 organisations engaged in policy research in 47 countries. It says that 34 organisations disclosed more information on their financial backers in 2014 than they did the previous year.

Those that made the biggest improvements were the Pew Research Center in the US, the Social Policy and Development Centre in Pakistan and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, the report says.
