BRICS link arms on innovation for growth

Ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have endorsed a three-year action plan on innovation.

Science ministers from the BRICS countries agreed on a raft of measures to promote growth through innovation and technology at their fifth annual meeting on 18 July, their governments have reported.

At a meeting in Hangzhou, China, ministers approved a BRICS action plan for innovation cooperation between 2017 and 2020, according to reports from the Brazilian government and Xinhua, the Chinese news agency. The action plan said that innovation was a driving force of sustainable development and economic growth globally.
