Japan joins international gravitational wave project

Europe, United States and Japan sign up to detection collaboration

Japan’s Kamioka Gravitational Wave Detector has announced plans to link up with the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory in the United States and Europe’s Virgo detector.

The Kagra detector in Japan should begin observations in December this year. It will then pool data on gravitational waves with Virgo and the two Ligo detectors in the US.
