WHO seeks ‘redoubled efforts’ on Sustainable Development Goals

World Health Organization puts R&D at heart of push to achieve UN goals

The World Health Organization has put R&D at the centre of its push to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, but the Wellcome Trust has warned that national research priorities need to be aligned to this global agenda.

On 24 September the World Health Organization launched its global plan to achieve the SDGs, which include eliminating poverty and hunger and ensuring a quality education for all by 2030. WHO has said that while progress has been made, the targets will not be met without “redoubled efforts”.
