‘Don’t rank universities on inequality’

Researcher behind ranking system for social inequality says approach is fraught with problems

The researcher tasked by the Australian government to produce a system for comparing universities against each other on social equality has cautioned against actually using just such a ranking.

A plethora of higher education rankings exist, but few include measures of social equity, despite ever-present concerns that the socially advantaged are more likely to benefit from a university education.
