Rapid rise in research into sustainability goals

Gender research and lower-income countries still underrepresented in study of Sustainable Development Goals

Academics are increasingly focusing their work on studies tied to globally agreed targets in education, health and other areas, according to findings by the data and publishing company Elsevier.

Publications related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals surpassed 4.1 million articles from 2015-19, up from 380,000 published between 2011-15, according to a 23 September report from the company. Work on ‘good health’, ‘sustainable cities’ and ‘responsible consumption’ showed particularly large increases.
