Researchers in global south push for homegrown top-tier journals

Low-income countries ‘need their own prestigious publications’

Scholars from the global south have said that local journals must grow into prestigious, go-to publication points for their countries’ researchers.

But to do this, researchers’ preference for publication in traditionally highly-regarded outlets located in mostly wealthy anglophone nations must be demolished, they say.
