Brazil’s National Institute of Technology and its Military Engineering Institute have jointly filed patent applications for two processes for making aviation fuel from biological materials.
Both methods are dependent on chemical catalysis, one involving citrus peel waste and the other eucalyptus biomass. The applications have been lodged under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, which would provide patent protection in most countries in the world.
