Climate change think tank created in South America

A think tank that will focus on climate change and its impact on South American countries has been established to inform policy makers in the region, SciDev.Net reports.

The think tank is the first of its kind in South America and is being launched through a joint initiative of the Avina foundation, which is based in Panama and promotes sustainable development, and Unesco. The two organisations are together providing $230,000 over the first two years of the project, which is expected to last for four years.

There are 10 universities and academic foundations participating in the initiative. They come from  Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
