Canada looks to create more science promotion jobs

The federal government will increase its spending on science promotion activities to $10.9 million a year to help encourage more young Canadians to study science subjects, according to science minister Ed Holder.

The funding will include $3.6m to support 66 projects under PromoScience, a programme managed by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council that supports community-based science camps, along with promotion and outreach activities for elementary and high-school students.

“Our government is committed to creating jobs and opportunities for Canadians, which is why we are making record investments to develop, attract and retain the world’s most talented researchers,” Holder announced on 18 March.
