With a federal election scheduled for later this year, the opposition New Democratic Party is seeking the public’s input on what its science policy priorities should be.
Kennedy Stewart, the party’s science critic, launched the survey on 25 February, asking four main questions. Is the government’s science policy heading the right direction? What is the most critical policy challenge facing Canadian scientists? What issues should Stewart raise in parliament? What policy proposals should the NDP put forward?
“Together, we can stand up to Stephen Harper’s Conservatives and chart a bold new course for science in Canada. We can end the muzzling of government scientists, restore evidence in public policy, and invest in the next generation of research,” said Stewart in an email to supporters announcing the survey.
