Canada's International Development Research Centre has begun a five-year project to use science and advanced technologies to drive innovation and sustainable growth in developing countries.
The Networked Economies programme will support research focused on helping developing countries use digital innovations to improve education, entrepreneurship and democracy, and improve the governance of the online world.
The programme aims to help developing countries benefit from new digital technologies, which have the potential to improve quality of life but also could replace skilled jobs and undermine privacy.
