Three centres of excellence win share of $22.2m

The three winners of the Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research competition will receive a total of $22.2 million in extra funding over the next five years to support commercialisation of digital communications and environmental technologies.

The three centres of excellence are the Canadian Digital Media Network, which will get $8.7m, GreenCentre Canada, which will get $9.1m for green chemistry, and Ocean Networks Canada Innovation Centre, which will get $4.4m for marine monitoring technology. All three were first launched in 2009.

The competition matches clusters of research expertise with the business community bringing innovative products and processes to market faster. There are 21 centres across the country.
