Innovation foundation expands facilities funding

The Canadian Foundation for Innovation is expanding its Major Science Initiatives programme with a special funding call in 2014.

The foundation has expanded eligibility for this call to include a greater range of facilities, both in size and complexity. It also includes diverse levels of CFI support, rather than just a one-time $25 million capital investment. Moreover,  facilities that have never had CFI support before will also be eligible. The CFI says it will fund up to $25m over three years to cover up to 40 per cent of a facility’s total operational and maintenance costs.

The foundation is asking institutions to submit expressions of interest, listing the facilities they might wish to have funded, by 21 January, to help gauge the level of interest.
