The government has expanded its funding for the Mitacs Elevate programme, which trains the next generation of business managers and researchers by providing recent PhDs with fellowships at innovative businesses.
Science minister Ed Holder announced on 27 March that the government’s two-year, $8-million investment in the programme was being increased to $18 million over four years.
The funding will provide 225 postdoctoral fellowships at Canadian businesses, and will include business and scientific management training as well as collaborative research.
