Novartis joins Alberta research partnership

Pharmaceutical company Novartis will provide $1.2 million for research on multiple sclerosis in Alberta, as part of the province’s MS strategy.

Novartis is the province’s first industry partner on MS. The strategy aims to promote greater partnerships with industry and among MS organisations, the health system and government to advance MS research and evaluation.

Alberta Innovates—Health Solutions (AIHS) will administer the money to fund MS research and innovation. “Alberta Innovates—Health Solutions is proud to partner Novartis and ensure its investment supports high quality, globally competitive research for the benefit of Albertans. We congratulate Novartis for investing in the capacity and potential of our provincial health research strengths in MS,” said Pamela Valentine, chief operating officer of AIHS, in a statement.
