Yukon unveils science strategy

The Yukon Territory's long term research priorities will include health, social science and indigenous knowledge, according to its science strategy published on 20 January.

The strategy says that science there must focus on the provincial government’s established needs and goals, to ensure money is spent strategically and that the social, economic and environmental benefits are maximised. The focus on needs will also help the province access money from funders such as the federal government and industry.

Premier Darrell Pasloski said: “Increasing our scientific knowledge enables us to better tackle the unique northern challenges we face, including our housing, infrastructure and energy needs.”
