CIHR backs health research after Alberta wildfires

The Canadian Instiutes of Health Research has announced C$2 million in funding for research on the health effects of this spring’s wildfires in Alberta, which destroyed much of the town of Fort McMurray.

The funding will focus on mental health and addiction, and occupational health and safety for those living and working in the fire zone. Other topics will also be considered, such as health service strategies during disasters, and post-fire environmental health issues.

The application deadline is 20 September, 2016.
