University of Manitoba sets high goal for fundraising

The University of Manitoba has set itself the goal of raising $500 million in donations for its current capital campaign, more than double the amount it managed in a previous fundraising drive, reports the Winnipeg Free Press.

The campaign goal includes $350m in private fundraising and $150m in hoped-for capital grants from the province. The Front and Centre campaign will focus on five areas: indigenous achievement, graduate students, research, student support and facilities.

The plan calls for $100m to support "a sustainable research chair programme across the faculties", plus $150m to attract and support graduate students.
