Waterloo joins Grand River Hospital for medical research

The University of Waterloo has launched a research collaboration with nearby Grand River Hospital, in Kitchener, that will provide academics with access to hospital resources such as functional magnetic resonance imaging facilities, and enhance research and innovation at the hospital.

Researchers at the university have collaborated with the hospital in the past on projects related to stroke, cancer treatment, traumatic brain injury, and nutrition and aging. The latest agreement will mean the hospital’s clinicans will now be more actively involved in the research.

Malcolm Maxwell, president and chief executive of Grand River Hospital said: "We have a unique opportunity to link a large community hospital that touches nearly all ages and stages of life with one of the most innovative universities in Canada."
