Monsoon satellite will monitor flood threat

India has launched a satellite to monitor monsoon rains and create better responses to potential flooding disasters, according to China’s state news agency, Xinhua.

The Megha-Tropiques satellite, developed in collaboration with France, was launched from India’s Sriharikota spaceport on 12 October. France supplied most of the hi-tech parts of the satellite, while India supplied the launch facilities and rocket.
