China increases HIV vaccine spend

China became the third largest contributor to HIV vaccine research in the world last year, with total investment of $18 million, an increase of $4m on the previous year, according to a recent report endorsed by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

China Daily reported that total HIV research investment last year stood at $859m, slightly down from $868m in 2009.
