China to buy Antarctic research plane, says research leader

The Chinese government is to buy its first plane for research use in the Antarctic, a research leader announced at a seminar in Shanghai on 25 September.

Sun Bo, a scholar with the Polar Research Institute of China, was speaking at a seminar on China’s polar expedition and research. He said that polar aircraft are demonstrative of a country’s strength in the region.
