China to launch first space lab module

China is to launch its first space laboratory module on 29 September, news agency Xinhuanet reported on 28 September.

Tiangong-1 will be launched using a Long March rocket between 9.16pm and 9.31pm on Thursday, a spokesman for China’s manned space flight project announced on 28 September. The unmanned module will be used for docking experiments with the Shenzhou-8 spacecraft once it is launched in November. The docking experiments will be the first ever conducted by China.
