Science chief’s reforms aimed at Nobel-quality discoveries

The president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the country’s largest research organisation, has outlined a plan designed to overcome weaknesses in research and boost innovation.

In a South China Morning Post article that was featured on the CAS website on 30 November, Bai Chunli is quoted as saying that he is concerned about China’s ability to produce scientific discoveries worthy of a Nobel Prize.
