Culture ministry sponsors US chair

The University of Chicago in the US is to establish a visiting professorship in Indian studies with funding of $1.5 million from India’s ministry of culture.

According to a statement published by the University of Chicago on 24 January, the Indian Ministry of Culture Vivekananda Visiting Professorship is intended to commemorate the legacy of Indian spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies such as yoga to the West.
