Plan to pour $630bn into water conservation

Chinese government plans to invest 4 trillion yuan ($634.8 billion) in water conservation in the next ten years, Hu Siyi, vice-minister of water resources, revealed at the opening ceremony of the Conference on International Advanced Water Technology in Beijing on 20 April, China Daily reports.

The plan includes doubling average annual expenditure on the water industry. Support will also be given to water technology innovation, Hu said.
