The director of a centre for research into alternatives to experimenting on animals has called on Indian authorities and funding agencies to do more to support such work.

Mohammad Akbarsha is director of the Mahatma Gandhi-Doerenkamp Center for Alternatives to Use of Animals in Life Science Education at Bharathidasan University in Tamil Nadu.
