Harvard loses to Chinese academy on science publications

Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) published more papers than those from any other institution in the world in 2014, data from the journal Nature have revealed.

The journal’s 2015 Asia-Pacific index, which maps scientific publishing in different countries in the region, was published on 25 March and compared with the data in Nature‘s overall world publishing index.

The CAS published 3,114 articles in 2014, which was 1.5 times more than Harvard University in second place. However, China as a whole is still significantly behind the United States, where researchers published nearly three times as many articles as those in China
