The former head of An-Najah National University, Rami Hamdallah, has been sworn in as the prime minister of the Palestinian Authority.
Hamdallah, a British-educated linguistics professor, had been president of An-Najah National University in Nablus since 1998. He was named as prime minister by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on 2 June.
