Daniel started his career at Research Fortnight some years ago. Before returning as deputy editor in 2017 he spent 10 years at the journal Nature in various editorial roles, writing about everything from science policy to missing deep-sea vehicles. He has degrees in journalism and history of science, and may even remember some of the chemistry he was taught as an undergraduate.
