Catapult Special: Expanding the network, from the bottom up

Tech entrepreneur Hermann Hauser says the UK needs to create one Catapult a year. Kicking off our Catapults series, the network’s director Simon Edmonds tells Rebecca Hill what this means for researchers.

Four years and seven centres in, Innovate UK’s Catapult network has been given the thumbs up by the technology entrepreneur who started the ball rolling.

In a much-anticipated report published on 5 November, Hermann Hauser praises its progress and calls for more. He suggests one or two centres a year—providing government with a nice round suggestion of 30 centres by 2030.
