Fredrik Lundmark, programme manager at Sweden’s Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, one of three bodies funding a €6-million call to tackle global challenges from a social science and humanities perspective, tells Cristina Gallardo that teams must be genuine partnerships.
The UK’s Wellcome Trust, Sweden’s Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and Germany’s Volkswagen Foundation are offering up to €800,000 (about £631,000) for each project funded through the third round of the Europe and Global Challenges programme. Proposals should be from social science and humanities researchers and address global challenges, such as climate change, migration, demographic change and economic uncertainties.
The funders’ aim is to improve collaboration between European researchers and those in other parts of the world, so each research group should involve people from different geographic regions. The funders want the majority of participants to be working outside European counties, but recommend there be at least one principal investigator from one of the UK, Germany or Sweden. The deadline is 30 January 2015.
