Our winning proposal: Leverhulme funding for Welsh-Indian links

An award from the Leverhulme Trust was Lisa Lewis's first major grant success. The performance studies scholar talked to James Brooks about winning £286,000 to study cultural ties between India and Wales.

Open all year round, the Leverhulme Trust’s Research Project Grants scheme offers a maximum of £500,000 for interdisciplinary projects of up to five years’ duration, with the choice of research subject entirely up to applicants.

Lisa Lewis’s project, investigating the unlikely but strong cultural ties between Wales and the Khasi Hills in north-east India, was announced as one of 2015’s first cohort of winners in March.
